I work with a diverse population of students from many different backgrounds including English Language Learners. We currently have a sister school relationship with a Paotongshu Primary School in China. This allows opportunities for our school and the sister school to help prepare students for a changing world, in which they can build on intercultural understandings and communication.
My wish is for my classroom to be one that encourages student engagement, student collaboration and one where students feel comfortable sharing knowledge, making positive choices and taking ownership for their education.
With our diverse community, learning happens in numerous ways. My goal is to encourage this diversity and foster it within my classroom setting.
My Project
I am looking forward to transitioning and transforming my classroom into a place that provides movement through alternative seating to improve participation and behavior within the traditional classroom setting. My desire is to provide an environment that allows choices in seating to increase critical thinking, communication and collaboration.
Providing my students with alternative seating options such as stadium chairs, bean bags, lap desks and stools, will give them different options for learning as well being comfortable in the classroom all day.
My hope is to gradually introduce different seating options throughout the year to provide an environment that will foster student engagement and make my classroom a more desirable place to be.
