My Students
Too often I hear my high school students say, "I hate math" or "I am not good at math" and it makes me so sad! I want this year, this class, to turn that view around! I want my classroom to be a warm and welcoming place to come hang out and learn to love (or at least tolerate) math!
Flexible seating increases a classroom's comfort level to take the edge off topics that some view as uncomfortable.
My students love to learn when they feel relaxed and welcomed!
My Project
Adding back jacks to the available seating options in my classroom will allow students to have the option of learning math from a comfortable seat on the floor! My students love having different chairs available that fit their mood and preference on any given day.
When students feel comfortable in their learning environment, they are often more tuned in and focused.
I have witnessed how providing options for students allows each student to learn in the way that is best suitable for his or her style. These would provide another great alternative to the traditional desks students typically sit in for seven hours a day!
