I work in a school that serves students and their families that fall below the poverty line. Many of our students come to school without their basic needs being met. Even though my students don't have all of their basic needs met, they come to school to learn. For some, school is their safe place and I do my best to make sure that they feel safe and loved in my classroom.
Our students are just like every other child, but they have the odds against them.
Recently, much of the neighborhood around our school where most of our students live, has been struggling with an outburst of violence, making our students feel even less safe than they had before. Our students deserve what every child wants and needs, a safe place where they are able to grow and learn both academically and socially in a positive way.
My Project
I am requesting printer ink and paper so that I can continue to inform my parents about what is happening in our school and classroom. Parents want to be informed about the events and activities that are taking place at school and don't always have enough paper to send out the information or even post it up at school.
The printer ink and paper will help us boost our parent involvement and attendance at our school functions and help encourage parents to become more active in their child's education.
We really need our parents in our schools to support their children and their learning. This paper will get us one step closer to getting our parents into the school and allow students to show off a variety of the things that they have been learning in school.
