This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a very diverse group. They come from different backgrounds and beliefs. Some kids have access to technology and some don't have it at home. With the rise in the knowledge of technology for current jobs, all students need to know how to be tech savvy. Our school has a diverse population with 95% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Many face challenges in and out of school and in their homes. School is a place of refuge for some, and I want to provide ample opportunities for them to shine where they are in their development. As their teacher, I see a group of wonderful children full of energy and a willingness to jump in and try new things.
With Arizona being 49th in state funding, it is very difficult to give all students what they need.
In order for our students to compete in the job market, they must be exposed to and be able to solve problems.
My Project
A lot of research has been done recently on the importance of student movement and brain breaks. It has been shown to increase learning, understanding, and social-emotional growth. As a teacher, I am always looking for ways to get my students out of the traditional rows and chairs. I need them to get up and get moving throughout the day. This project is designed to have flexible options for students seating.
Flexible seating offers students the opportunity to move while they learn.
The benches offer flexibility with a great storage opportunity underneath and the ottomans offer easy maneuverability. It gives students the choice to sit where they are comfortable. Young children need to move, this project will allow students the freedom to wiggle for many years to come!
Your donation will help my students create a flexible classroom with happy and healthy brains!
