My Project
Puzzles are a great opportunity to build a child's speech and language skills through play. A puzzle can allow for many opportunities to target speech sounds and enhance language skills through requesting, following directions, and problem solving. The sensory lamp requested will be used as a calming tool when my students may become overstimulated.
Puzzles can be used to build vocabulary by talking about the objects in the puzzle, their size, shape, color, function, and location. They can also be used to instruct your child where to place each piece (“try putting that piece under/next to that piece” or “put the firetruck in first, the sailboat in second, and the plane in third“) which allows you to target spatial concepts, and first, then. .
