Yoto Literacy Center: Old School Cool Meets Creative Innovation

Help me give my students an innovative literacy center. Yoto Mini will allow me to have important people in my students lives record audio for physical books we already have in our classroom.

My Project

Remember those old school books on tape/CD/record with the bell or beep to turn the page? I would like to create an updated version of this for our literacy centers where students have physical books in hand (not iPads) and have familiar voices reading stories to them. For example, our school principal, parents, and other community readers can create MP3 files that can be played at our listening center. I can use an app to upload the stories onto cards that students can choose from and play on the Yoto. By the end of the school year I would love to have students creating their own recordings to share with the class!

Yoto Minis will give our class of emergent readers a motivating and engaging way to interact with physical books and build foundational skills.
