My Students

My second grade classroom is quite dynamic! I am teaching second grade for the first time during the Coronavirus Pandemic. I will have 15 students in my class and most will be learning remotely, at least temporarily. In addition to our remote and in-person curriculum, I would love to provide a children's yoga and meditation program to my students to combat the stress and potential trauma induced during these unpredictable times. I am already a certified yoga instructor, but would like to become certified in children's yoga and meditation instruction as to further support my current and future students' in their mental, emotional, and behavioral health.

My Project

During these challenging times it's important for children to have a healthy outlet. Teaching children yoga and body movement exercises is extremely beneficial to their mental, emotional, and behavioral health. As remote learning becomes an even more realistic option in the near future, students will likely be spending excessive amounts of time in front of a computer. It's important that students be given tools to learn yoga practices and other mindfulness exercises to assist them in coping with difficult emotions, frustrations, and unpredictable events outside of their control. I plan to teach in-person and remote yoga classes for children in my class to cultivate peace and balance as we move through the coming bumpy months! Thank you so much for your help with this goal.
