My students need help learning how to manage their BIG feelings. Using the Fujifilm instax camera I will be able to show students pictures of themselves before/after a difficult moment.
The students in my classroom are 3-5 year old preschool students. They come from all walks of life and have various family situations.
Many of my students have met criteria to receive a special education diagnosis.
Some have speech / language concerns, behavior concerns and /or motor concerns. Many of my students have endured trauma in their young lives and need a safe, calm, and structured environment to become life long learners.
Help me- help them become their best selves.
My Project
My project teaches students to identify their feelings and utilize specific taught strategies to self-regulate and create calm!
Kid friendly yoga cards (Yoga 4 Classroom) and several mindfulness books (I Am Yoga, and I Am Peace) will be used to teach the kids strategies to calm and experience peace.
This will help prepare their bodies for active learning!
My class will use the Fujifilm instant camera to document our different feelings. This will help the kids visually learn to identify their own feelings and recognize them in others. The Fujifilm instant camera will also be used to create a child friendly book of the different yoga poses. This will be used as a visual classroom resource for the children to use when they need assistance / prompting to self-regulate.
When children feel safe and relaxed they do their best learning and can become their best selves!
