My Students
We teach at a Title 1 elementary school where the majority of our students receive free and reduced price lunch. Our kindergarten students are curious and excited to learn.
Many of our students are bilingual or Spanish speakers.
Other languages represented in our three classes are Russian, Arabic, Swahili, Chuukese, Cebuano and Marshallese. Most of our kindergarten students do not have access to books, community activities, or enrichment experiences outside of school.
We want to give our students the best possible foundation for a lifetime of learning.
My Project
This project is to help continue teaching yoga practice to our youngest students.
The look on a young child’s face when they know they can do something or they realize they are regulating their behavior, is truly priceless.
Whether in whole or small groups, or individually, students learn yoga through stories, adventures, and breathing exercises.
These mats will be used throughout the school year and will be sent home with the students at the end of the year so that they may continue their yoga practice. We hope this is just the beginning of a lifelong practice. Thank you!
