Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the 3rd grade teacher for Bronx Little School. During gym, recess and other free time, it would be a benefit if our students were able to learn the basics of yoga practice. Yoga practice allows individuals to increase physical capabilities through exercise. However, it also allows for mental clarity and control. Students will learn how to control their reactions, maintain a balance, avoid stress and work on holistic health.
Initially, I am requesting 25-30 yoga mats for use in our school. Any type of yoga mat will do, no need for the high-end thick mats.
I have found students respond well to the idea of self-control of their emotions and reactions. Yoga will serve several purposes for improving our students' lives.
