Yoga Helps Us

Help me give my students yoga mats to encourage each child to self regulate.

My Project

My students come to school each day and need a way to “reset”.

Yoga will help each child learn to self soothe.

Listening, watching and moving our bodies help people relax. When we are relaxed, we are able to learn new concepts. Yoga is completed each morning when we come to school and after recess time. Ten minutes of our time is used to help create structure and a therapeutic environment.

First, we turn the lights out. Then we close the door. Next each child must get a mat to roll out. Once each student is sitting on their mat, we will be ready to start our video.

Once yoga is completed every student will return their mat to the proper place. Lights will be turned on and now every child will be able to sit calmly to acquire new knowledge.

The goal is to help every student learn to self-soothe so they can learn new information.
