The special need students in my class learn best when lessons are hands-on and get them up and moving. With lessons, we like to practice life skills they can use later in life. They are a fun loving group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
We currently have 5 girls and 5 boys that really enjoy attending school.
They have a wide range of disabilities and need extra support with behavior and/or academics. The students in my class really love to move and be active.
My Project
The yoga mats will allow my students the opportunity to learn yoga and mats to create healthier, happier classroom. They will no longer have to practice on the hard floor. We have started practicing yoga in the room to help de-escalate behaviors and practice fostering and empowering their knowledge about the way their bodies work with balanced minds. Cosmic Catch and the parachute will give the class more ways to take "brain breaks" and get everyone up and moving. The students in our special needs class love bright colors and working together. The special needs population in our class love to try new and creative games.
