Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a passionate National Board Certified Education Specialist working in a high school setting. Our school is a Title I school serving a diverse population. The students I work with are determined and strive to persevere through social, emotional, and academic challenges. My Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class has worked on the yearbook staff, attended school activities, volunteered in the community, and served on the ASB (Associated Student Body). They excel with movement and hands-on experiences. I am blessed to be their teacher and strive to encourage students beyond their greatest expectations.

As the year comes to an end, it's time to begin preparing for the 2025/26 school year.

These snacks, bars, popcorn, pretzels, and lollipops will serve as motivation to help students focus and remain on task. Students earn fake dollars that they can exchange for snacks. When students are hungry and unable to focus on their classwork, they can trade in their fake dollars for snacks. This benefits students by reinforcing lessons on budgeting and saving for the future. Through the process of budgeting, students are saving for and earning snacks that help them remain calm, focused, and ready to complete their next assignment. Thank you for your support.
