My students need two jumbo trikes and traffic signs so they can get exercise and reinforce reading at the same time.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our saga continues... five years went by since we were fully funded for four trikes for our kindergarten yard. The warranty is up and one of the trikes does not have a rubber front tire. Three trikes for 120 kids is not enough.
We have over 120 transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students using the kindergarten yard everyday.
Our school serves free breakfast to all our students. About 80 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our students work very hard in the classroom and they deserve to go out and have fun. Unfortunately, most of our students have limited opportunities to ride bikes safely around the neighborhood. Our school has a fun bike track that was recently re-painted by my daughter's girl scout troop. The track has twists, turns and shapes they can follow. Being able to ride the tricycles at school gives them a chance to ride a bike and get some exercise. It is amazing that every year we have a few students who can't pedal a tricycle. But they learn quickly so we need to give them time to practice.
My Project
We have at least 50 students playing on the playground at one time. When it is time to play, the children go straight to the bike track but unfortunately, we have only 3 tricycles in working condition. All the children love the tricycles, but there are not enough tricycles or time to give everyone a chance to ride around the track. Having two more tricycles will allow more children to be able to ride and shorten the wait time between their turns. Exercise is very important, and by having more tricycles the children will spend more time exercising than waiting.
Since childhood obesity is on the rise, schools must do their part in providing opportunities for children to get exercise.
Due to budget cuts, our school has no money to provide tricycles for our students so I hope you support this project. It will be a project that will touch many lives year after year. With your help, we can help our future leaders be healthy, strong and confident! Thank you for believing in us!
