My students need two new tricycles to replace our old broken ones.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The saga continues....we were just fully funded for two new trikes for over 120 kids...great news. Now our play structure in our kindergarten yard is closed for at least 3 months because they are fixing the sewer lines that run under our school playground...bad news. Now we need more play equipment.
We have over 120 pre-kindergarten, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students using the kindergarten yard everyday.
About 80 percent of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Our students work very hard in the classroom and they deserve to go out and have fun. Unfortunately, most of our students have limited opportunities to ride bikes safely around the neighborhood. Our school has a fun bike track that has twists, turns and shapes they can follow. So being able to ride the tricycles at school gives them a chance to bike and get some exercise. It is amazing--every year we have a few students who can't pedal a tricycle, but they learn quickly so we need to give them time to practice.
My Project
We have at least 50 students playing on the playground at one time. When it is time to play, the children go straight to the bike track but unfortunately, we have only 3 tricycles in working condition and thanks to donors like you we will have 2 more coming soon but we are hoping for 2 more. All the children love the tricycles, but there are not enough tricycles or time to give everyone a chance to ride around the track. Having two more tricycles will allow more children to be able to ride and shorten the wait time between their turns. Exercise is very important, and by having more tricycles the children will spend more time exercising than waiting.
Since childhood obesity is on the rise, schools must do their part in providing opportunities for children to get exercise.
Due to severe budget cuts, our school has no money to provide tricycles for our students so I hope you support this project. It will be a project that will touch many lives year after year. With your help...we can help our future leaders be healthy, strong and confident! Thank you for believing in us!
