This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This is my 26th year of teaching middle school, and one thing that every single year has in common is the mystery of the missing pencils.

When pencils mysteriously disappear from middle schoolers, please help me solve their dilemma with some pre-sharpened pencils on hand.

I want them to work; I don't want them to ask around for a pencil, dig in their backpacks for five minutes, or explain in a three-minute wild story why they do not have a pencil.

Believe me, I have tried all the tricks on how to keep pencils in class: ask politely; tie huge Dollar Store paper flowers to the ends; put their names on the board; give them golf pencils; print sayings about how they love Justin Bieber or Beyonce on the pencils; etc. Still, pencils mysteriously disappear.

Please help me supply these students with pencils that they can store them in their pencil pouches in their binders, which are stored in the class. Thank you!
