My students need fun with Expo Markers, poster boards, gloves, and a Biology Coloring Book.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. K Coogler's classroom raised $500

My Students
My students are excited to explore the world around them and to expand their capacity for "thinking outside the box." They take pride in their education and are willing to challenge their minds and each other for the sake of learning. I strive for a student-focused classroom where the students do the research themselves. Students learn more, appreciate, and understand science issues. Also, they have fun in the process as they feel ownership for what is done in class.
My class is composed of a very diverse group of juniors and seniors who enjoy a love of learning.
They strive for the best and push themselves to achieve their goals. Many of our students come from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background. Our goal is to work towards increasing the availability of Dual Enrollment and AP classes so that they reflect the diversity of our school.
My Project
Neon Expo Markers can write on lab tables! I usually do some type of review activity during class before a test. I have decided to employ Neon Expo Markers as part of my approach to content review. Each group of students will collaborate and figure out which part of their study guide they deem important. From this, they will be able to create their own personalized study guide to help them prepare for the test. My students will be excited to do the “walk around review,” as apposed to the traditional pen/pencil paper review sheet. This will allow students to give feedback to other groups and "teach" the other students their part of the study guide and why they deemed it important.
I am looking forward to using these markers in class.
I can see my students drawing representations of DNA and chemical bonds from Biology Coloring books on the tables as well as using their own creativity to complete the drawings. I can also see the application of these markers for drawing locations of where materials should be kept at lab stations. The students will use gloves to draw on tables to prevent markers from getting on hands and subsequently, uniforms. Finally, students will copy their drawings from the tables onto poster boards and display them throughout the school.
