Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an ethnic diverse Title I school with amazing 4 and 5-year-olds. My classroom is filled with lots of different levels of learners. They love to be exposed and try new things in the classroom. There is a lot of hands-on learning, things that interest them, lots of rigor and relevance. We love to get our hands dirty! We love to relate and add personal connections to lots of books we read.
We have lots of social-emotional learning that takes place in recognizing how and why we might be feeling the way we do in situations.
I love to push my students to learn from their mistakes but the mindset that its normal and wonderful to make mistakes.
My Project
I would love to expose my class to all these books that focus on a growth mindset. I encourage my students to be self-reliant, managers of their time and work, and how to apply prior learning successes to new obstacles they come across. I would like to use these books to model more growth mindset thinking and how they can celebrate mistakes and struggles and recognize their effort over success. Help to teach my class about the brain and how it works and self awareness. These books would be an excellent tool to further teach them about different mindsets that you can have.
