Yes, We Are Listening

My students need additional class sets of books and cd's to go along with them in order to build our classroom listening library.

I am a first grade teacher in a high poverty school, where we do not have the funds to provide the students with additional resources for the classroom.

My idea is to build our listening library in the classroom where the students can listen to books on CD. Resources needed are books that come in class sets of 4 and a CD to go along with each set.

We have a small listening library, but our current issue is that there is only one book per CD. Which makes it difficult for more than one child to enjoy a story while being able to see the pictures. We are asking for a set of books, where each book comes with 4 copies each. The books also come with the CD to go along with them. This way, I can have up to 4 children listening to a book on CD while reading along in their own copy of the book.

With your help, my students will have the opportunity to read, or listen to, books that they may have never picked up before. A growing struggle in schools today is a child's desire to sit and read a book, and then to be able to "retell" the story. By providing them with a fun and comfortable area to read, I believe they will once again find reading to be a fun activity. Please help our children find the fun in reading once more.
