My Students
I am a Special Education teacher who works with students with disabilities from grades 1 through 5. My students are children with high needs and are at risk of falling behind grade-level standards.
My students cannot wait to return back to school.
Help me give them the confidence they need for in-person learning to resume. During school closures, my students experienced a roller coaster of emotions. Some were excited to spend time with their parents at home, some were sad with what is currently happening in the world, but most of all, everyone was anxious about leaving their homes. I spent countless sessions reviewing hand washing videos, how to social distance, and explaining why we needed to stick to these practices as best as we can. I know that deep down inside, my students continued to feel anxious about whether or not leaving the home is considered safe anymore.
My students are eager to return back to school and they absolutely need it for their social emotional well-being. I want to help ensure for them that our classroom is safe and clean.
My Project
Schools have always been a child's safe haven and it should continue to be that safe haven now more so than ever before. With these air purifiers, the true HEPA filters, and the sanitizing box I will be able to relieve some of my students' anxieties for returning back to school. With these materials in the classroom, they will feel safe using their supplies and have the comfort in knowing that a device will be constantly cleaning the air. Not only will they be free from their worries about safety, they will finally be able to devote their attention and energy back on learning and enjoying their peers. Not only will this be beneficial for their social well being but they will have more freedom to feel like a "normal kid" again. Isn't that what we want from them after all?
