Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Flexible seating is a the best new concept in modern classrooms! It has a positive influence especially in younger students because increases focus by allowing the little ones to move through a variety of seating options, such as bean bags, floor cushions, standing or seating desks, carpets, and wobble chairs, instead of traditional desks and chairs. The idea is to give kids the freedom to have different seating arrangements that works best for them in the different moments of the day. If we take into consideration that we all have different learning styles and that movement is essential for learning, flexible seating should be considerate a basic need.
On average, children sit for about 8 hours a day every day, and we need to provide them with a healthy classroom environment; arrangements that allows them to develop their mental and physical skills simultaneously , even more now with curriculums increasingly based in the stillness and silence.
Research suggests that implementing flexible seating can improve students' engagement, concentration, and behavior in the classroom, as well as promote collaboration and creativity, however my goal number one as a teacher is to provide them with healthy physical and mental habits for them to practice the rest of their lives.
