My Students

Remember what it was like growing your first veggies? My students anticipate getting their hands dirty and preparing for their first gardening experience!

I am an educator in a rural area Kentucky school with a high concentration of poverty.

We are located near a military installation and have many military families in our school community. I teach classes that include special needs and general education students. All my kids want to perform at higher levels!

My Project

Welcome to the classroom garden! In conjunction with previous projects funded through DonorsChoose, and with the help of sponsors like FEED USA and Disney's Planet Challenge, my class wants to grow their classroom organic garden! Students will examine life cycles hands-on while planting, growing, monitoring and harvesting organic vegetables. They will also explore the impacts of different conditions on growth and learn environmentally friendly ways to produce crops. This will be the first experience with gardening for many students!

Your help will make it possible for these students to explore ideas and content that are simply not available to them in the regular classroom resources.

Along with the curricular benefits of the project, you will also be giving these students an opportunity to experience the pleasure of growing their first green foods in their hands-on projects. You can make a difference in the lives of the wonderful children I teach!
