"Hello! I teach senior economics in Mississippi. Imagine having no resource to print in color in the classroom. Many time little printing at all. Our senior economics projects are vivid and bright. The students deserve to display in color their creations and presentations. We cannot do that now.
My students are college-bound seniors enrolled in economics.
It is a required and necessary course to prepare them for the real world. Their coursework is rigorous, challenging, and fun. Our school is a Title I, high poverty high school in Mississippi with about 80% free and reduced lunch. Our school population is over 1273 students. Despite our district's best efforts, providing needed classroom resources is at times difficult to accomplish. My students need these basics to get the maximum experience from their education.
With the proposed printer, ink, paper, presentation pointer, and batteries, my seniors can present the best senior economics projects possible. These reality based projects include creating a children's book to teach economic principles to younger students, creating a video to teach economic principles, creating a new product with packaging and advertisement and marketing plan, etc. These are student generated projects that teach economics and or solve economic issues in our region. My students will learn to think critically, but more importantly, they will understand that economic and financial decisions are important to a better life.
These students are on the cusp of becoming part of the workforce and desperately need to utilize any and all financial knowledge we can give them.
These projects make economics relevant and fun. They design, create, and share these projects based on their interests. Our only hindrance is the printing element. America is relying on teaching better economic understanding and practice in our future generations. Thanks you for helping me in some small way assist in this effort.
