My students need a document camera to help us project classwork, lessons, and multimedia presentations.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember the buzz of that old dusty overhead projector? Or the marker stained hands of your teachers from those great Vis-a-Vis markers? Those cool inventions helped teachers create amazingly accessible lessons! With all the technology available now, a document camera will take us to the next level!
My students come from a low-income urban school.
Our school receives 100% free lunch based on family incomes. My class is comprised entirely of students for whom English is a second language. They are incredibly eager to learn, and love to have access to new technology which is unavailable in most of their homes.
My Project
We are requesting a document camera to aid in class-wide learning. We currently have an old, dusty overhead projector with a burnt out light bulb. This wouldn't be such a problem if the projector wasn't so old that no one makes the replacement bulbs any longer! Because of this, any projection has to be done on borrowed (and also old) projectors (both overhead and computer), and therefore does not occur frequently. With a document camera, I will be able to project information for students to follow during lessons, student work for praise and recognition, and multimedia projects from the computer.
This one item will change the way 2nd grade is run in my room. As English Language Learners, any type of visual information is extremely beneficial during the learning process. This document camera will really help the students make wonderful connections!
With your generous donations, this eager and amazing group of underprivileged students will have access to infinite more visual information.
Any support to their learning will help create a more equal educational playing field for these students! Your donation will help change the face of urban education as we know it!
