My Project
My students are awesome. They are from a small, close-knit community in Hawaii. Many of their families grow some of their food, or they fish or hunt for food. It sounds healthy and nutritious, but when I see the kids at school, their snacks of choice always seem to be the regular, commercial, high-sugar snacks with additives and food dyes and so on.
My idea is to expose the students to organic, more healthful snack choices.
I hope that some of the students will pay more attention to ingredients and therefore make a healthier choice. I have ordered a variety of organic foods from raisins to trail mix to cheddar bunnies to fruit gummies to mini chocolate chip cookies.
This will be perfect to give to that one hungry student or to the class as an incentive or as a reward. Mahalo and I will let you know how it goes.
