Yay! It's Indoor Recess!

My students need board games to help us have constructive activities for indoor recess. We are requesting 10 sets of dominoes, chess, and Connect Four, and 15 checkers games.

My Students

Many of my students haven't had the pleasure of playing board games, having a checker tournament, or learning chess. Indoor recess offers an incredible opportunity to have something constructive for kids to do during their free time.

We are a lower socioeconomic school.

We have a large multi-cultural population. The students and their families are supportive and amazing. They support their students and their academic endeavors. They love trying new things - even if they are old.

My Project

With winter approaching and sporadic wet days, we need supplies to help the students stay actively engaged during recess. It's hard for active kids to be cooped up in the building all day. Starting a tournament style recess would be an amazing way for them to be involved in an activity that will provide them with lifelong skills such as strategy and cooperation.

Many of my students have yet to experience some of these board games.

Our culture has focused so much on the wonderful digital aspects, that we sometimes overlook the very basic things that can serve an immense purpose. Students will learn new things and new ways of thinking and interacting with one another with these games.
