This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Y.A.N.A. (You are not alone) that is the name of our holiday service project. This holiday season all 250 of my art students will strive to make 300 plus senior citizens remember just that. Last year I learned about a lunch that was put on by a neighboring community that offered a place for seniors without family close to celebrate the holiday season. With just markers and construction paper we made over 200 christmas cards. This year I would like to make it a little more special for both my students and the seniors.

Using art, I hope this project will show one of the ways that anyone can give back to their community.

Using the stickers, paper, markers and ribbon we will create unique holiday cards for 300 plus senior citizens. Using the beads, chenille sticks, ribbons, bells, bows, and wooden cut outs we will create 300 plus ornaments to accompany those cards.

This project is a way to give back to our community and teach students that kindness, thought and a little bit of glitter can make someone's day!
