it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My high school students are always looking for books that speak to issues of social justice, discrimination and inequality. In my class, students will read these books in groups and present to the class their thoughts and research on how and why the books were banned. My students have a need to be challenged and learn about the whole world. Also, many struggle finding books that they see themselves in and can model their life after. Many of these books, my students have already told me, they wish were in my classroom library.
