My students love to sing, play instruments and learn about music. They are always asking me "Can we sing that song again?" and their eyes light up when I pull the instruments out. They exude pure joy when participating in any kind of musical activity, whether it be listening to music, singing, moving to the music or playing instruments.
They are passionate and enthusiastic musicians-in-training.
They love to try and experience new things and are always asking great questions. They absolutely love to learn!
My students ask to play instruments in every single music class. I have a limited number of classroom rhythm instruments, a handful of drums and one xylophone. Having an Orff Instrumental Set will open up a world of opportunities that my students deserve. Musical concepts such as steady beat, melody, rhythm and harmony can be taught with xylophones. Students as young as Kindergarten can play xylophones to learn steady beat, and older students can learn music arranged for Orff that will enhance their note reading skills and in turn prepare them to learn a band instrument at the middle school level.
The xylophones and metallophones will enhance their experience in music class throughout the year.
Students can play these instruments as a way to reinforce any musical concept that we are learning. They can also be used as a way for students to express their creativity by writing their own songs. I will be able to do composition projects with my students where they can compose a song for xylophone and perform it. These xylophones will create endless musical opportunities for my students!
