This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach all of MES's 600 students music at some point during the school year. While many of them are eager to play the instruments that we have in class, we only have one hour together each week and limited room to make music and play together. These limitations have kept us from getting to put our Orff xylophones to good use. Since the wooden tone bars are not affixed to the xylophones in order to resonate, it makes it hard for most students to move the xylophones safely on their own.

These xylophone stands would make it easier to set up the xylophones and therefore, make them more accessible to everyone.

We do use the instruments currently, but without the stands, I have to set them up myself which is not the best use of class time. These xylophone stands mean more time to jam!
