This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
While I have very high academic and behavioral expectations of my students, I am well aware that many of them benefit from positive reinforcement and incentives. Our classroom treasure box is a hot commodity! The only problem is, these kids are so terrific I am running out of ways to reward them! I am requesting rewards that will appeal to both the girls and boys in the class, including sensory toys, various types of candy, bubbles, and Legos.
The feeling of pride in their personal behavior and academic pursuits encourages my students to do their best so that they can earn a trip to the treasure box!
We are also requesting items to create a new SEL bulletin board. I plan to take each child’s photo at the beginning of the year using the brick backdrop and hang it up on the board, using the photo frames and hanging strips. I want to use the greenery wallpaper as the backing on the bulletin board so that it pops and draws visitors’ attention when they’re in the classroom. The theme of this board is “Class Family,” and I want the students to feel pride in themselves as individuals as well as part of the classroom community.
