I teach English as a Second Language and Special Education to Grade 1. Our English Learners speak languages such as Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and Arabic. I work with students in the first grade SEI classroom, general education classroom, and inclusion classroom.
I teach first grade students with an English Language Development level ranging from 1-5.
I ensure all of my lessons are individually designed to meet all learners' specific language needs and IEP goals. My goal is to close the achievement and language gap for my students.
My Project
This summer, I would like to attend the Wilson Reading System (WRS) Teacher Conference. The conference will provide an in-depth, hands-on professional learning opportunity focused on Steps 1-6 of the new fourth edition. This conference will give me credit in order to renew my Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner (W.D.P.) credential.
Some WRS 4th Edition Institute session topics include the following: an overview of the fourth edition, phonology, morphology, orthography, and word elements.
Also, this conference will give me important updates regarding the fourth edition teacher materials including the following: instructor manual, lesson plan practice, vocabulary and Wilson words assessment, and end-of-step assessment lesson practice.
