My Students
My students are all English Language Learners from various cultures and language backgrounds. Some come to me with a decent English vocabulary- some come with none at all.
"The limits of my language means the limits of my world," -Ludwig Wittgenstein.
These students are the most resilient and hardest working group I have ever worked with! They are unbelievably willing to do whatever it takes to grow and learn. Most of my students come from blue collar, low income families that value education above all else.
My Project
These materials will help my students learn new vocabulary and use them in their writing. Using a mentor text lets students evaluate their own writing and what changes they need to make for their writing to be better.
By donating to our project, you will not only help students increase their attention and focus, but you will help increase their English proficiency.
Flocabulary is a fun video tool to help learn new vocabulary by putting the concepts to song, poetry, or rap. Students love to watch and listen over and over again.
Writing notebooks is the best way to keep up with all the paperwork. At the end of the year, the student essentially has a portfolio of all their writing and how far they've come since day 1 as a writer.
