My students need a writing center complete with creative sentence journals, stampers, and manipulatives that will help shape and construct quality writing in a very young mind.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Encompassing a young mind the importance of learning to write is essential. How creative can a five-year old write when their imagination is not stimulated and inspired? Igniting a young child's imagination into the writing process will provide a solid foundation to be the next Alcott.
Our school is located in an urban area in California.
We are 100 percent minority, Latino, African-American and Pacific Islander. All of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch and many also use state-funded services that have been severely lessened.
My Project
The writing table in our classroom will inspire my students to write creatively with their own minds. The addition of sentence starters, writing manipulative's and rubber stamps will help my students create, form and construct letters that they will learn to turn into words. This creative foundation will ensure that my students grow fond of the writing process in an imaginative atmosphere.
The incorporation of the writing process into a young minds life is essential in teaching them to communicate and become productive citizens in a world that is ever changing and difficult.
Having a place to creatively express their ideas and imagination will stress the importance and positive atmosphere that embraces education.
