Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a first grade teacher at a fabulous urban Los Angeles elementary school. Most of my students are English Language Learners from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Several of them are in a Special Education class and spend half of the day with us. They are all amazing children with a passion to learn and a strong desire to do better.

We do a lot of whole group writing in class together. We write stories together. We practice spelling together. We develop a love of words together. However, we end up wasting a lot of paper in the process. When we use the chalkboard, the students can't reach very high and so we only utilize a small portion of the space.

The whiteboard easel that I am asking for is a perfect solution to this problem. It is at the students' height and it has two sides for practicing writing. The students love writing on white boards! They think it is a special treat and are more motivated to participate. The easel also has room for storage and can be used as a magnetic board as well.

This easel would be a great addition to our classroom. It is functional and fun. Best of all it solves a problem that my students and I have been facing all year! With your generosity my students will have a fantastic new resource that will help them become better writers. I thank you in advance for your commitment to my students.
