Writing with Bricks in Hand

My students need an ipad for research and building bricks for creative engineering.

My Students

My students want to tell stories. They have a lot of creative ideas, but they are not sure how to get their ideas out of their brain and onto the paper.

I gave my students a project to create a pet monster.

Then they were asked to write a monster story. By having them create the character first, they were then able to create a story around that character. My students come from many cultures and backgrounds. Many speak English as their second language. I want them to become better writers and storytellers so they can share more of their life and culture with others.

My Project

My students will use the building bricks to create characters and settings that they can then turn into amazing stories. As they use the bricks to start their stories, their minds will come alive. The student's creativity will explode and their stories will have much more depth and richness than before. The iPad will assist them in story planning and publishing as well.

The students have paper and pencils.

What they need is hands-on creativity tools to bring their stories to the next level. The legos and ipad will bring an excitement to our writing time. My students will look forward to writing time every day.
