Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hi, I'm a kindergarten teacher currently teaching in East Palo Alto. I have 20 twenty students and about 80% of my students are English Language Learners. Most of them have never been in a school setting, so everything is new to them. Most of my students come into school not knowing how to write their names, let alone distinguish letters from numbers. I love teaching my students their letters and sounds and seeing them go from not knowing how to write to writing complete sentences by the end of the year. In order to get my students to write, I do a lot of model writing and interactive writing. I use white dry erase board to motivate my students to write. I give them each a white board and a marker and we would write together as a class. Last year, I borrowed these erase boards from my colleague and this year I wanted to have my own set, so that my students are able to use it at any time. Writing should be fun and with the dry erase board my students are able to have fun writing and learning. Thank you.
