Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, inspiring, and need some new materials to work with to continue their learning. They are primarily Hispanic and come from a very low income area. Most of my students started speaking Spanish when they were younger and didn't start learning English until they started Kindergarten.

This makes learning a challenge at times.

Our school is a Title I school that has over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. The families at our school are required to volunteer at least 20 hours a year to help support the school.

My Project

Our classroom needs a pencil sharpener that works. We have tried all different types of sharpeners, but we need a good one and one to have as a backup.

It is really difficult to write when you don't have a sharp pencil.

Whenever we start to work and someone's pencil breaks, we have to stop class and ask if anyone has a pencil that is sharp.

We also need some new expo dry erase markers. We use dry erase markers every day in math to practice what we are working on. We also need some erasers to go with them.
