This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal is to inspire and motivate my 1st graders to be creative and proficient writers. The tools I am requesting will help me do this. The whiteboard easel and chart paper will allow me to have an area to display writing ideas, examples, and skills for students to utilize in their own independent writing.
The writing journals, card stock, and watercolors will be in the hands of my first graders to express themselves through writing and art.
The writing journals have writing lines specifically designed for young writers. It also includes a space to add a drawing that illustrates what they are writing about. My students really love to draw, so this is a great feature.
I tried to have my students paint on construction paper. That didn’t go very well. It was too thin, and their art was ruined. The watercolor paints and card stock I am requesting will allow my 1st graders to create beautiful pictures on strong paper meant for watercolors.
