Writing Tools for Writers' Workshop!

Help me give my students usable pencils and a workable pencil sharpener! We are writers now, and our first grade writers workshop is on top of its game! Unfortunately we are lacking the supplies!

My Students

First grade is a big step for children! They are no longer in kindergarten, and the expectations are a lot higher!

It is my responsibility to create a warm atmosphere for my students to help them love school, feel safe and learn!

Everyone in my room is my family and I consider my students “my kids!”

My students are high-poverty, low income students from a very culturally diverse population. They are inspired by the world around them, but often times do not get the exposure to much more than our rural town. We are a Title One school, but we work hard to excel. All teachers work hard to provide the best individualized education for all students. Our first grade class is made up of students who are eager to learn about everything!

Unfortunately, we have very limited resources in out classroom. Pencils, crayons and glue sticks are scarce! I want to make the best impact on my students and give them the tools they need in order to be successful!

My Project

My first grade students are busy in school and are loving the writers workshop model by Lucy Caukins. This excitement in writing is so wonderful; unfortunately our supplies are depleted and my students' financial hardships prevent them from being able to bring in their own supplies.

My students are in need of markers, copy paper, glue sticks and pencils in order to continue being amazing authors and illustrators!

Having students be creative in their writing notebooks make them more authentic and are a sense of pride for each and everyone of them.

If you donate to our project, you will be giving my students supplies that they no longer have. Many students were able to bring glue, crayons and pencils to school at the beginning of the year but our families are unable to continue to replenish these supplies.
