Kindergarten is so much fun! My students learn in many different ways using all of our senses and multiple intelligences. I use a wide range of techniques to help all my students succeed no matter what their level.
My students attend a Title One school.
Most of my students come from families from a low socioeconomic status. Our school is a caring community of successful learners which can be seen through collaborative student project based learning in and out of the classroom. Kindergarteners in my class love to work with hands-on materials and have many different opportunities to practice a skill before it is mastered. Having the social skills to work cooperatively with friends is a crucial aspect of kindergarten curriculum.
My Project
The students in my classroom have so much to say and so many stories to tell. However, at times, the act of putting a pencil or pen to paper becomes too overwhelming and frustrating. I've noticed that the use of felt tip pens benefits my writers because they are able to experience more sensory input as they put their pen to paper, helping them to have better control when they write and draw.
Providing the right kind of writing tools for my students will enhance not only their ability to write, but also their confidence.
Sometimes something as simple as a different kind of writing instrument can launch a writer's success!
