Help me give my students the tools and resources to create exceptional writers as they travel through discovery and understanding of our curriculum and our world.
My students are the thinkers, developers, and dreamers that will build the future. As they use their skills to develop in humanities, they need the tools to help them feel successful and engaged, while monitoring how they learn. They need a learning environment that allows for the development of social and emotional growth during the transition from elementary to middle school.
Every day we work to create a strong sense of community in our classroom so that every child feels confident of belonging in our learning environment.
Our school corporation's initiative of "Strong in Every Way" encourages all our students and staff to build "connected, resilient, self and culturally adept young people during their formative years."
As we work through the school year, we not only focus on the content, but we also reflect on our emotions and develop our understandings of the world. Within our weekly class meetings, we will have open dialogues that will create an inclusive learning environment for all my students. By using picture books to enhance the themes my colleagues and I have brainstormed, we will be able to tackle ideas like compassion, determination, integrity, self-awareness, empathy, and more.
My Project
The requested materials will help create a writing curriculum that actively engages students in creating works that connect to their lives and the history of the world. My students need a variety of ways to express their ideas and emotions, and I believe writing is the key to sharing our feelings.
As we work to obtain the understanding to help us become lifelong learners, my students are never stifled by thinking inside the box.
Their previous and expert knowledge about a variety of topics allows them to work above and beyond expectations. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing.
