Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love learning about things and having new experiences. All of my students come from a low socioeconomic background where the money for books and trips can be scarce. Many of them are second language learners who need exposure to books and opportunities in order to develop English fluency and vocabulary. They look forward to school as a safe, fun place where they can learn and grow.
My students approach learning with wonder and joy.
Their eagerness to learn new things and share their ideas is tempered only by their need to develop quality written and oral communication skills.
An important area where they need help to grow and improve is penmanship. Most of them have difficulty writing neatly and consistently due to poor fine motor skills. They need tools to help guide them toward greater success in this area.
My Project
Most of my students did not attend preschool. They did not spend time coloring, cutting, and painting, and so lack the fine motor skills and stamina necessary for accurate and legible penmanship. Many of them have developed bad writing habits, and need assistance in breaking them.
The PenAgain Twist 'N Write guides students to use a classic tripod grip when holding a pen or pencil and develops the fine motor skills and stamina necessary for accurate and legible penmanship.
They are built to fit small hands, and naturally mold the child's hand into the proper grip for writing.
Writing is a fundamental component of academic success. Developing writing fluency and stamina are critical to the future success of my students.
