My students need to be able to come to class and not worry about writing supplies or collaboration supplies. The large Post-it notes are great for group collaboration and presentation.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Great students choosing a safe school option in Central Arkansas. While our students come from a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, our poverty rate is roughly 50%.
We are considered one of the most diverse districts in the state.
We have students who desire to learn in a safe environment. Parents make the choice EVERY DAY to drive their student to our public, open-enrollment charter school.
Our project will benefit our students who struggle to bring writing supplies to class. We will provide giant post-its, markers, pens, pencils, and composition books for bell work and formative writing.
My Project
About half of our students are low SES. Knowing that they can easily use these materials when they come to my class will eliminate some of the angst regarding coming to school. I will provide supply boxes for each group of students so that they have easy access to pencils, pens, highlighters, and markers.
We often forget how difficult it can be for the students who do bring materials to class.
They often share their materials with others and as a result, quickly run through their supplies. They may not want to explain to their parents where their supplies went.
By providing collaboration supplies for each group, the worry ends.
