This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our campus is a Title I school, which services students with economic disadvantages. Approximately 75% of our school's population receive free and reduced-price lunches. A majority of our student population consists of Hispanic and Caucasian students. Despite the challenges, each student comes in every day eager to learn.

Each day, my students walk into my classroom ready to demonstrate perseverance to become accomplished writers.

"To be a better writer, I have to have grit and determination!" exclaimed one of my third grade students. My students are encouraged to push through the challenges they face and become the best reading and writing student so they can go to college!

My Project

I am requesting the Lakeshore Writing Center with storage to organize various writing supplies. The extra storage will allow me to add various types of writing utensils and paper for the students to utilize when working at the writing station.

I want to create an enriching environment where my students will feel like "professionals" and take ownership of their writing.

It is important for students to have various opportunities to write and publish their work. In my classroom, the students often write about the books they are reading. This center will allow them to creatively express their thoughts and ideas.
