My students are a collaborative mix between special education students and general education students in eighth grade.
Our school is located in Staten Island, NY and was hit hard by hurricane Sandy.
Some students lost their homes and relocated. Many of them do not have all of the supplies they need to bring to school.
Asking the students to supply these materials would be an extra burden that I would not want to put on them. Please help us supply them with the needed tools to pursue mathematics excellence!
My Project
My students will have the ability to work out algebraic equations on their desks. They can share their ideas with classmates and have space to edit their work with peers .
My students love to use the markers and are excited to draw on their desks!
Working collaboratively, if they each use a different color , they are able to see which person made which edits and constructively come to a solution together. Lastly my co-teacher and I are able to watch students , “ think out loud” while they show all their ideas on the desks and we care able to help guide them in the right direction to solve problems in a discovery way.
