Help me give my students the ability to show work and express their ideas on their desks, and paddle boards. Students work collaboratively to solve math problems right on their dry erase top desks.
My students are a collaborative mix between special education students and general education students in eighth grade.
Our school is located in Staten Island, NY and was hit hard by hurricane Sandy.
Some students lost their homes and relocated. Many of them do not have all of the supplies they need to bring to school.
Asking the students to supply these markers would be an extra burden that I would not want to put on them. Please help us supply them with the needed tools to pursue mathematics excellence!
My Project
Students will work together to solve math problems on their desktops ( that are white boards) and on paddles that they can hold up to share their answers. Students help each other to check their classmates work and fix mistakes. They enjoy writing out their work on the desks and show all the needed calculations that allow them to reach the desired answer.
It was inspiring to watch how students will help each other by critiquing each others work.
Students find a sense of confidence in their work and are proud of the work they have collectively done. Participation in the classroom is enhanced by these tools.
