My Project
This project aims to purchase multiple copies of Stephen King’s On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft for senior English classes to enhance students' writing skills and inspire their personal narratives. Combining memoir and practical writing advice, King’s book provides a solid model for storytelling, self-expression, and clarity in writing.
Students will read On Writing as a mentor text to explore key principles of effective communication, including voice, narrative structure, and personal reflection.
These lessons will then be applied to crafting their own personal narratives, which may also serve as potential college admissions or scholarship application essays. By connecting literary analysis with real-world application, this project fosters creativity, strengthens writing skills, and empowers students to share their unique stories in meaningful ways.
