My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher at a Title I school in West Valley, Utah. Kindergarten classes at our school are very diverse. We have many diverse students that are just learning English in our classrooms. We have so many students that are eager to be at school to learn and grow! The majority of my students come from a lower socioeconomic background. School is a place where they can escape, learn, laugh, and socialize with classmates their same age. No matter what is happening in their home, no matter if they have new clothes or the newest sneakers, they bring a smile to my face as they hug me and say, "good morning" as they walk in the door. That is the second they know they are somewhere they are loved, cared for, and part of a family.

My energetic kindergarteners enter the classroom each day ready to learn, discover, and explore!

Kindergarten is such an amazing and wonderful year for children. They learn and grow so much in such a short amount of time. Kindergarten students are like little sponges ready to learn and absorb all this new knowledge.

My Project

These materials will give my students the opportunity to write during centers. It will give them to explore during writing and try new things. The writing station and other supplies of the sort will be used by the students, so that they may create books. The organizational baskets, crates, and cups will be placed on the shelves in the back of our classroom and will help the Writer's Workshop process run smoothly from day today. Every child deserves the opportunity to not only learn to write but to enjoy writing. My goal with this project is to encourage and foster a sense of love for writing. In kindergarten is where it all begins. I hope to inspire the writers and thinkers of tomorrow in my classroom. Please help my little friends share their voices and stories through their writing.
