Help me give my students an iPad and Apple Pencil so they can continue to access powerful learning tools.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Yardley's classroom raised $703

My Students
My students are all students with diverse learning needs. They face challenges such as Autism, Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities, and Emotional Disturbance. My students need focused attention and direct instruction to find success in their academic work. This has been a significant challenge with remote learning. Using standard video conferencing has been helpful but our progress has been much slower with online learning.
They need the tools to make instruction and learning more visual to have greater success in this difficult learning environment.
While they face great challenges that also have great potential. With hard work, innovative methods of teaching, and the right tools they can find how they learn best and exceed anyone's expectations.
My Project
Teaching special education from a distance is a challenge! There are so many little things that we take for granted. One of those things is being able to write or draw to show students examples of how to do things. An iPad with a pencil will help that situation and many more.
Our current iPads are obsolete and will not run the current versions of the amazingly successful learning software we've been using.
This device will unlock the doors to the tools that we know work, as well as open new opportunities to address student's needs.
The great thing about having the iPad with a Pencil is that it will make it much easier to help students with remote learning. I will use digital whiteboard apps such as Doceri or Educreations to create lessons that can be used on-demand, or in live teaching sessions. This is especially helpful in teaching math concepts. If you cannot write when teaching math it is very difficult to teach and to learn. The iPad will make it so students can follow along with the process leading to greater understanding in a remote teaching situation.
The benefit during this crisis is big, but It will continue to benefit the class for years to come after this event. Thank you for considering my request.
